We are pleased to announce that the 47th National Symposium on Acoustics(NSA 2019) will be held in Cuttack(Odisha), October 17 to 19, 2019. This annual Symposium with a long tradition is organized by the Acoustical Society OF India. It provides a forum for accessing the most up-to-date and authoritative knowledge from both industrial and academic worlds, sharing best practice in the field of Acoustical Science and Technology. The Symposium will provide an opportunity to highlight recent developments and to identify emerging and future areas of acoustics in the exciting fields.
The venue of the NSA 2019 will be the Ravenshaw University, Cuttack. The Symposium is organized by the school of Physical Sciences, Ravenshaw University and Acoustical Society of India.
Cuttack, the millenium city of Odisha is one of oldest cities of India and enjoys the status of being the oldest town in Orissa. The city of Cuttack was the capital of Orissa for over nine centuries until the capital was shifted to Bhubaneswar. It is also called the Silver City because it is world famous for its silver filigree work.

ABOUT THE SOCIETY
The Acoustical Society of India (ASI) was established and registered at Visakhapatnam on 31st July,1971 with the major objective of “The advancement of science & technology of all branches of acoustics and the maintenance of high standards in such science and technology; to increase and diffuse the knowledge of acoustics and promote its practical applications”. The ASI conducts a National Symposium on Acoustics every year with a special theme. The ASI brings out the Journal of Acoustical Society of India to disseminate the latest trends in Acoustics among the professionals in the country. To encourage Indian Scientists / Technologists, the society has constituted various awards / honors. It is an active member of the International Commission on Acoustics (ICA). The society is having more than 30 local chapters and a combined membership of about 1100 members representing a wide spectrum of acoustical specializations. It has 26 institutional members representing Indian Industry and 15 leading foreign experts as honorary fellows of the society.
ABOUT RAVENSHAW UNIVERSITY
Ravenshaw, one of the premier educational institutions in the country, was established in 1868 in Cuttack, Odisha. This historic institution will complete 150 years of existence. After one hundred and forty years of eventful existence, it was converted into Ravenshaw University by an Act of the State Legislature on November 15, 2006. Thus, as one of the heritage educational institutions, and as a young university, Ravenshaw is a veritable blend of the old and the new. Not only is this Institution an epitome of learning but also a piece of unique Victorian architecture.
